This program was developed to help owners learn more about the current state of their vessel and what needs to be fixed, develop a comprehensive maintenance plan specific to their vessel, and create a roadmap outlining future upgrades. The consultation program is divided into three distinct phases that may be approached in sequence, or you may pick and choose only those that suite your needs. Each consultation usually takes place aboard the owners boat over the course of 2-4 hours.
repair phase $350
This is the discovery phase. We review the vessel’s most recent survey and asses its current state. We go through each of the major systems documenting any known issues. We draft a list of repair items, prioritizing those that require immediate attention, and develop a rough timeline and cost estimate for each repair. Some repairs may be well-suited for DIY work, and for others we will identify a local contractor to perform the work. The goal of this phase is to create a list of current work items detailing its level of priority, who will execute the repair, how long it will take, and about how much it will cost.
maintain phase $300
Many equipment failures that occur on the water are a direct result of neglected maintenance. At first glance, maintaining a vessel may seem pretty straightforward. However, since every boat has its own unique set of systems, there is no single maintenance program that fits all boats. I have found, over the years the benefits of developing a maintenance program specific to each vessel. Your maintenance program is a logbook that lists all the required maintenance tasks specific to your vessel (you might be shocked by how many items on that list aren’t being kept up with). The logbook contains the frequency with which each task needs to be performed (e.g. weekly, annually, every 2 years) and the date when the task was last completed. Your maintenance program is your key to keeping your vessel ship shape and provides insurance against needless break-downs.
upgrades phase $250
This is the fun phase. We will discuss your wishlist for your boat- with a focus on feasibility, timeline and budget. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages associated with each project; and as always, who is best suited to execute a given task. For example, “I want to replace my jib sheets, but what type of line is right for my boat? Do i need a rigger for that or can I do it myself?”
The final product of this phase is a roadmap detailing specifications, cost estimates and timing for upgrades to the vessel that will no doubt bring you closer to your “dream boat.”
