If you're looking for a fun hands-on experience of an overnight sailing trip on the Chesapeake Bay look no further! This trip is perfect if you want to gain more sailing experience, spend a night at an iconic Chesapeake Bay anchorage, and experience cruising in a supportive and safe environment with a professional captain onboard. TRIP DESCRIPTION
Cedar Island is a great place to spend a night aboard, anchored just off the Chesapeake Bay next to a sandy beach. During your trip, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including route planning, sailing, navigation, and anchoring. We will discuss what makes a good anchorage as well as how to manage any challenges that may arise throughout the trip. You will spend the evening at anchor.
ROUTE
EXPECTED ITINERARY
DAY 1:
10am: Meet at Tides Inn marina for safety briefing, route planning, and stowing belongings.
11am - 4pm: Sail to Cedar Island and anchor for the night (lunch underway).
Evening: Set out on the dinghy (catamaran trips only) or swim ashore to explore the island, walk the beach, and enjoy dinner aboard.
DAY 2:
8am: Breakfast aboard
9am - 2pm: Return sail to Tides Inn marina (lunch underway).

Lunch: chicken salad on wheat + chips + grapes
Dinner: crab cake + side salad + couscous
*dietary preferences are welcome- note your preferences when you book and your captain will be in touch regarding substitutions.
WHAT TO BRING
Pack light. A carry-on size duffel bag for clothes/foul weather gear should suffice.

Foul weather gear - Rain gear and water-proof boots or shoes.

Towels
Warm Layers - its better to have them and not need them; we recommend that all/most clothing be quick-drying
USB charging cords for your devices (there are USB-A outlets in each berth)
Sunglasses, sunscreen and hat with a brim
Sailing gloves (optional)
Entertainment - Books, tablet, music (headphones are required)
Noise reduction earplugs for sleeping (if you are a light sleeper)
Personal and sea-sickness medicines

CANCELLATION POLICY
Typically we do not cancel multi-day trips, unless the weather is extreme. In that event your captain will reach out at least 48 hours in advanced. Cancelled trips due to weather will be rescheduled or refunded. The final decision on weather cancellations is made by the captain.
We offer free cancellation within 24 hours after booking. After that if you decide to cancel for any reason, you will forfeit your deposit.
