Sunset Cruise

Hop on Galene and depart in the late afternoon, an hour and a half prior to sunset. We will set sail and watch the sun dip below the horizon as you enjoy the glow of the Rappahannock River. There’s no better time or way to experience the sky than by viewing it at sea from a classic sailboat. There’s nothing for you to do except kick back and take in the serene beauty. This is coastal living at its best! This trip is good for those who want to spend a relaxing evening with friends and family out on the water.

Do you want the quintessential Coastal Virginia experience? We depart at 11am and set sail on the Rappahannock River, where we pass under the iconic Robert O. Norris Bridge and enter Locklies Creek. We arrive around 12:30pm for lunch at the Merroir Tasting Room- a waterfront restaurant that serves as the tasting room for the Rappahannock River Oyster Company. Harvested fresh daily, everything is either served raw or cooked on an outdoor grill, small-plate-style, and beautifully paired with craft brews and world-famous wines. Around 2pm we head back across the River on Galene for a leisurely afternoon sail to homeport. This will be an experience to remember.
Notes: Lunch at Merroir is not included in the price of this trip. Although they do not accept reservations, we have found even on holiday weekends that the wait is manageable.

A two-hour sailing excursion on the Rappahannock River that departs at 8am, 10am, 12:30pm and 3pm daily. This trip is great for anyone wanting to get out on the water and experience sailing on the River. If you’re into sunbathing on the bow of a sailboat or relaxing and soaking up the views, this is the trip for you!
moonlight cruise

Imagine seeing the water in a whole new light: moonlight! For two days each month, the full moon lights up the river with an etherial glow that sparkles off the waters surface and creates a truly spectacular and unique experience. We depart just before sunset on sailing vessel Galene, which is outfitted with specific gear for cruising safely at night, and spend two hours sailing on the Rappahannock River with the moon as our guide. One of my favorite trips we are offer, the Moonlight Cruise is a totally new way to experience the river.
